第11句

原文

It symbolizes for both teams that resiliency, even though the fire did come through, we didn't give up and we're striving forward.

  • symbolize (v. 象征) /ˈsɪmbəlaɪz/
  • team (n. 队) /tiːm/
  • resiliency (n. 韧性) /rɪˈzɪliənsi/

原文

The school's photographer says it shows the power sports has to connect communities.

  • 定语从句省略结构:“the power sports has to connect communities” 是修饰power的定语从句,完整结构为“the power that sports has to connect communities”,省略了在从句中作宾语的引导词that,容易造成理解障碍,核心主干是“it shows the power”

词汇

  • school (n. 学校) /skuːl/
  • photographer (n. 摄影师) /fəˈtɑːɡrəfər/
  • power (n. 力量) /ˈpaʊər/

What these two communities are doing today is showing what sports can do to kind of bring people together to make things a little bit light.

  • 长难句主干梳理:本句主干为“What these two communities are doing today(主语从句) is showing...(系表结构)”,后续what引导的从句是show的宾语,核心是说明体育的凝聚作用

词汇

  • community (n. 社区) /kəˈmjuːnəti/
  • sport (n. 体育) /spɔːrt/
  • bring (v. 聚集) /brɪŋ/

讲解

  • 新闻场景描述的独立主格压缩结构:“Cheerleaders lining the fields, fans packing the stands” 替代完整并列分句“Cheerleaders were lining the fields, and fans were packing the stands”,省略be动词were,用“名词+现在分词”结构快速勾勒现场画面,符合新闻简洁播报的要求

  • coach (n. 教练) /koʊtʃ/
  • final (adj. 最终的) /ˈfaɪnl/
  • score (n. 比分) /skɔːr/
